Check Easy fixes for Your “HP Printer Offline” Issue

Working on an important assignment and your printer won’t connect online. This can be frustrating. There can be multiple reasons that your HP printer is offline.

Firstly check if your printer is connected properly. If using a USB port for connecting your HP printer with your device then check the port. Check if your USB is securely placed.

If using the wireless method follow these steps to resolve your offline issue-

 

  1.  Restart your printer. Wait for at least 10 seconds.

  2.  Disconnect the power cord 

  3.  Turn off your device

  4.  Connect the cord to the printer 

  5.  Turn your printer ON

  6.  Disconnect your power cord from the wireless router

  7.  Wait for 10 seconds.

  8.  Power on your device

  9.  Using HP Smart software, connect your printer to the required network

  10.  Print and check if the Offline issue is resolved 

  • The default printer

So you need to manually set the default printer settings. Follow the steps accordingly –

 

  1.  Click on the search box and  open the Devices

  2.  Click on Printers & Scanners

  3.  Check for  “Let Windows manage my default printer” is unchecked. 

  4.  Change the box to uncheck if not.

  5.  Select your printer 

  6.  Select the Manage option

  7.  Click on the “Set as default” option.

The next step is to see if your printer uses a WSD port.


  1. Opening the Control Panel 


  1. Got to “View devices and printers”

  2.  Right-click your printer option  and select Printer Properties

  3. Check the Ports tab and see if your printer uses a WSD port

If it uses a WSD port then-

  1.  Open Services option

  2.  Find Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication from the list

  3. Check the Startup type column 

  4.  If the startup type is automatic, then go to the next step

  5. If not, then right-click the name and select the Properties

  6. Change it to automatic

  7. Click on the Start option under the service status and then click OK

  8. Go to the Device and Printers window and click F5

  9. Check the status of your printer by clicking on it.

  10. If the issue is with the printer then it might solve your HP printer offline issue.
